Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s aluminum-scented container trailer contained ‘aluminum,’ officials say

An al-Qaeda-affiliated militant group said Monday it had seized a shipment of aluminum containers from a UAE company that has been used to smuggle oil into the country.

Al-Qaeda’s English-language Amaq news agency said the containers were filled with aluminum and the container carrying the aluminum was a “new vehicle.”

The trucks were taken into custody Tuesday by security forces who also found a vehicle filled with fuel and diesel.

The seizure was reported in a video uploaded by a local activist group, al-Muhajiroun, that said the aluminum containers were being loaded on to trucks.

It said the trucks were being used to move crude oil from the UAE to Oman and then to Oman’s port of Doha.
